A first time comprehensive album presenting the
marvellous collection of Sacred Relics
The collection includes more than 600 invaluable
belongings of prophets such as Abraham, Moses
and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), the Prophet's Companions,
as well as a number of Muslim saints. Excavated
from the most restricted rooms of the palace,
the entire selection is compiled here for the
first time,including those that are not on exhibit
for daily visits.
The Topkapi Palace houses many items and relics
collected and donated over a large period in history.
Many relics of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) were
brought to the palace by Yavuz Sultan Selim I,
upon the conquest of Egypt in 1517.
During the First World War, a decision was made
t o evacuate the cities of Makkah and Madina.
To prevent thier damage or loss, the gifts which
had been sent from Istanbul to Makkah for centuries,
as well as some of the sacred relics, were brought
to the Topkapi Palace, Istanbul.
The Sacred Trusts captures and contains these
items and relics in thier full glory combined
with a fascinating history.
